Terms and Conditions

Becky Shotton Driver Training

Driving Licence and Eyesight

You must hold a current valid licence (either provisional or full) which must be produced on or before the first lesson. I will run a licence check on or before your first lesson, to ensure that you are entitled to drive on the road, in my car. You must also be able to meet the minimum eyesight requirement (read a number plate from 20 metres) using your glasses/contact lenses, if normally worn. In addition, whilst you are in control of my car, you must keep to all current speed limits & road rules. I will as your instructor, keep an eye on your speed and driving attitude during every lesson and educate you on how to stick to the correct limits. If however, you do get caught speeding on your lesson, you as the driver and the person in control of my car, will be liable for the points and fine.

Payments

Lesson payments should be made before your lesson. If you wish to pay by cash, then please let me know this at the time of booking. Where an intensive or semi intensive course is booked a £250 deposit will be required. This is a non-refundable deposit unless of exceptional circumstances, where a refund is at my discretion. If for any reason I’m unable to undertake the course, then an alternative date will be discussed & arranged. Where that is not possible, a refund will be given after an agreement has been met. The balance of the course cost should be paid at least two weeks before the course start date. Any lesson payments made to me must be used within 12 months from the payment date. Anytime after this, then the credit will be lost and no longer redeemable.

Lesson Cancellation

You will need to give a minimum of 48 hours notice should you need to cancel a lesson. If this is not possible, then the full lesson fee will be charged & you will lose that lesson time. Please ensure that lesson fees are settled in good time. Being on the road all day, I do not have time to chase late payments. If you regularly pay late, then all future lessons will be cancelled and I will no longer be obliged to offer you space in my diary. If you cancel regularly with no good reason, then all lessons with me will be terminated & I will no longer be obliged to teach you. Any monies paid for those lessons will have whatever is owed to me deducted & the remainder refunded to you.

Use of my Vehicle

In the interest of yours and the public's safety, I reserve the right to withdraw the use of my training car for the driving test, if in my opinion, your driving is not up to test standard. I reserve the right to cancel a lesson at short notice if it is suspected that you may be unfit to drive due to the affects of alcohol, drugs (prescribed or otherwise) or any other condition that would cause your driving to be dangerous or illegal. In such circumstances you will lose your lesson fee.

Punctuality

After arriving at the agreed pick up point for your lesson but where there is no reply at the address in question, I will wait approximately 15 minutes. If after this time you have not made contact or I have been unable to reach you, the lesson will be abandoned and you will be required to pay for the lesson(s) in question.

Refunds & Complaints

If for some reason you are not happy with the service that you have received during your lesson, please do let me know. I would really like the opportunity to try and rectify any problems that you feel have arisen. If that isn’t possible, then a refund will be given once we’ve discussed the issue and a mutual agreement has been met. If you have paid for a discounted lesson package, then my standard rate will apply and after deductions of what is owed, a refund on any monies paid will be processed back to you. If you still wish to raise a complaint, this must be done so in writing via email within 72 hours of the lesson taking place. Please send your complaint to beckyshottondriving@gmail.com.
